In this episode, we give due respect to the Dedolight 150—the surgical scalpel of the lighting world. With its precision optics, buttery-smooth focus, and rock-solid build, the Dedo wasn’t just a light—it was a lesson in control. It taught us how to shape, cut, feather, and isolate like pros long before flags and barn doors could save us. Every time you nailed a tabletop highlight or rim-lit a subject’s jawline just right, the Dedolight was there—quiet, focused, flawless. Some tools just make you better; this was one of them.

The Old School Lighting Show is a little idea that Nick Zgradic of The Lighting Architectural Firm (aka The LA Firm) had because it's always fun to look back at some of the lighting and related gear that we've used throughout the years in the studio and production business. And the reality is, in many aways there's nothing stopping anyone from using this "old school gear" in today's productions either. As a matter of fact in a lot of ways, using the old school stuff just might make your pictures look better than you thought they could... sometimes... If you're willing to put in the extra work and wear hot gloves while you're doing it.

Regardless of if you want to use the old stuff, the new stuff or a combo between the two, I hope you watch these short video diaries and enjoy them as much as I do making and sharing them. It's a fun and simple way to take a break and appreciate the tech that paved the way to where we are and what we use today.
